Reflections (an audio album) coming out on the 1st of June 2023. This project to me, is a journal reflecting on feelings and situations experienced due to mental health complications, it is not meant to be ‘sad’ nor ‘happy… but I’m sure it can be seen both of these ways. The purpose of this paragraph is to give further context to the project, I’m not trying to go into all the emotions, situations, lyrics etc etc. discussed in the music. I just want to say what is left to be said: The sound is a product of my interpretation of other artists that I enjoy.
The few collaborators are to add verseititlity, a very important part of music in this era. As well as twiggiestar (artist) being an artist from the same city as me, directly facing my recurring obsession that the entirety of the city I live in hates me (something I experienced early on in the album creation.) If I could work entirely alone I would, however it is in my best interest to involve bigger, more developed producers and artists to my concert line-ups, albums, discography.
Rak Rek (Designer) is more than a collaborator. We have worked on the album cover design for over 2 years, when only one of the current tracks had been recorded. T-shirts and CDs are an important part of the project as they add a tangible connection. Over 500 songs didn’t make the cut. Waterfalls did not make the cut, one of my most popular songs, and one of my most personally disliked. Love or hate it, it doesn’t fit on the album.
To quote Virgil Abloh “its easier to be a critic than to produce work, so the only way to get to the end means is to start your domino affect, which is basically put out bad work.” – This is Apri1 Foo1s. It is under populated across the frequencies, it is unmastered, the mix is muddy, autotune clips and clicks, entire gibberish verse in the middle. It uses stock plugins, and the least it has to its name is musical complexity. Im ready to watch this be one of the most enjoyable tracks on the project as it is to me. If it isn’t, I guess that is the part that makes producing the work harder than critiquing it. The project was recorded primarily in Australia, throughout 2021-2023. London Extension Raw was recorded in London in 2023 in a hotel room with apple headphones. Reallife was recorded in France 2022 through an Iphone. Rubberrrr was produced in Paris, new years day 2023, and vocals were recorded in February in Australia.
